Taenia saginata
PLANARIA "digestive tracT"
As mentioned before, The digestive tract of Planaria, such as the Dugesia tigrina, aren't very complicated. This form of Planaria is a brown flatworm, as shown above in the picture. They live in the water, most-likely fresh water, when it comes to this special species. Brown flatworms get their food into their body through the mouth in the middle section of their under-body. A little tube shoots out from the middle of their body to the food and sucks it in to the pharynx. Unlike humans, as mentioned earlier, Planaria only have one way to get their food out of their "system." After the food is sent to and through the "intestine," which is also known as the Gastrovascular Cavity, the food is broken down. It is distributed out to all parts of the worm, where the nutrients are needed for growth. Then, to finally release the food, the unused nutrients and waste is let out through the mouth again.
