Botulus microporus
About What they are and how their digestive system works
Trematodes are flukes that are always found in mollusks and in vertebrates. These Trematodes are also parasitic. One uncommon thing that a trematode has that is different from some other species in the Platyhelminthes is trematodes are hermaphrodites. This means that the animal has two reproductive organ, a male and female. The food moves through the mouth with hooks and suckers and then into the pharynx and esophagus. Then, like other animals in this phylum, the food passes through the esophagus and into the intestine immediately. Nutrients are used by the animal, but the animal still has to get rid of this waste. The fluke, when it does not need the left-over waste and nutrients, disposes of it through its mouth again, because there are no other openings in the Trematode.
