Perifera Phylum facts
* Porifera, also known as sponges, are the types of phylum that live underwater.
* This phylum is different from other types because the porifera has many cells that cover their exoskeleton. These cells each have different types of functions.
* Since the sponge does not have a mouth, they use their tiny pores on their body.

Digestive system
* Porifera's digestive system is not as complex as people think. The inside of the phylum is covered with cells that have one function. This function is; to absorb all the nutrients of the food as the food passes through. The food goes through the cells by cilia into the stomach. This type of digestive system is common amoung all the porifera's and it is a very simple way organisms such as sponges, jellyfish, etc. gain the required nutrients they need.
